I didn't think the pitch was as bad last night as it had been for the Sunderland & Villa games. Might have been the rain early in the match that slicked it up a bit so the ball ran better. Place does seem to be falling apart though. The clock at the BM end has been out for ages and the scoreboard under the screen at that end has gone now too.

Mate of a mate was groundsman there, he found another job as groundsman at Aintree, you can be sure he wasn't replaced, having said that, the pitch looked perfect last night

Anyone know the situation with the groundstaff?
I'm wondering if redundancies were announced pending the olympic move, and they've jumped early.
Alternatively, perhaps our groundstaff are stretched, getting the olympic pitch ready.

It's their cunning plan; ton continue to destroy the pitch so the last home game of the season there is absolutely no grass on it whatsoever. This means as we all invade the pitch there'll be fuck all worth digging up and taking home!

From an emotional standpoint I agree with you, however its all about the money and they ain't going to spend it. The surface is looking conference level at best but as we moving into March and the weather starts to dry out they will get the heavy roller on.

I'm not at all surprised, they're running it down on minimum cost until we leave.
With the added bonus that it just makes the athletics arena look even more shiny.

I can understand not giving a shit about the stadium but the pitch?
Hopefully we're wrong and they are planning improvement work to it in the 3 and a half weeks without a game this month.

I couldn't give a toss about the running down of the fixtures and fittings.
But to have a pitch not fit for use is not on when we're talking European football and millions of pounds in revenue.
If the pitch plays a roll in costing us 3 points etc etc then this board will go into meltdown.

FFS!!! it's blindingly obvious. The ground and it's environment are no longer ann asset, not since the sale was agreed some 18 months ago.
The business will not spend one single penny more than they absolutely have to.
The general deterioration of the entire facility has been evident since the Olympic Stadium agreement in 2013, look around you at the general fixtures and fittings when you next visit. Its not falling apart but noting is being cleaned or maintained.
The pitch has up to 9 matches to bear before it's ripped up, never to be used again (& x EPL, 1 x Testimonial 1 Possible FA Cup replay)
You can guarantee one thing, as soon as you set foot in the OS next July/August you will be met with vista so verdant it would have your average Paddy crying for home.
